One of these days I'll finish this deck! Lots of little symbolisms in this one. Instead of the classic dog, I used a butterfly...is he a travel companion, or is he trying to warn the cat? The cat's stride is quick and confident, being the optimist that he is--he'd better watch his step! Yellow is the color of importance in "The Fool", so I used it prominantly. The rising sun symbolizes new beginnings, new ventures. His walking staff is of diamond willow, a tree that grows throughout the far north where men sought their fortune. On his lyre are carved acorns, for from the humblest little acorn the mighty oak may grow. I forgot to put in the rosebuds, though... so I will be redoing this one. Tarot is a good project if you're a research fanatic, and I definitely am. :)

I love tarot pieces. Particularly when the artist seems to have done their research into the card and knows what elements of its symbolism they want to include. Considering this card makes me think a bit of Puss in Boots is also a bonus. ;)
